Enterprise SEO Link Building Agency of Record 2018-2023

How LSEO Helped Redfin Scale Page-One Rankings Across High-Intent City Real Estate Searches

For five years, LSEO used a page-level "Money Term" link-building strategy to strengthen Redfin city pages for non-branded commercial searches such as "Miami homes for sale," "Austin homes for sale" and other city-level real estate queries.

Case Study at a Glance

A focused authority strategy for one of the largest real estate websites in search.

Redfin operates at a scale where domain authority alone is not enough. Millions of URLs can spread authority across an enormous site architecture, while city pages compete against major portals, brokerages and local publishers for some of the most commercially valuable queries in real estate. LSEO's role was deliberately narrow: strengthen the specific pages that mattered most.

01 / The Challenge

A powerful domain with a page-level authority problem.

Real estate search is intensely competitive. Redfin already had exceptional domain-level authority, but its enormous site architecture meant that authority was distributed across millions of pages.

The opportunity was not to chase broad vanity metrics. It was to identify the city pages where incremental authority could move high-value search terms from positions 11-30 into the first page of Google.

These were the searches closest to commercial action: consumers explicitly looking for homes, houses and real estate in a specific market.

The core enterprise SEO problem Millions of pages competing for internal and external authority across the Redfin ecosystem
The strategic question: Which page-one opportunities could create the most business value if Redfin added authority to the exact page already ranking within striking distance?

02 / What LSEO Found

The shortest path to growth was already visible in the SERPs.

Redfin did not need to create an entirely new page for every opportunity. Many valuable city pages already ranked on pages two and three for high-volume, non-branded terms. LSEO treated those rankings as a prioritized opportunity map.

Find positions 11-30 Locate city-page queries with commercial intent, meaningful volume and an existing relevance signal.
Build authority to the page Acquire links to the specific city URL rather than relying on domain-level authority to eventually flow there.
Move, measure, rotate Once benchmarks were achieved, rotate focus toward the next set of commercially valuable terms.

03 / The Strategy

The LSEO Money Term strategy: page-level link building tied to commercial intent.

The campaign was intentionally systematic. LSEO used ranking data to decide where authority was most likely to create a measurable change, then concentrated link acquisition on those pages until the performance benchmark was reached.

Prioritize commercial city queries

Target terms were non-branded searches such as "[city] homes for sale" and "[city] real estate," with particular attention to terms ranking in positions 11-30.

Build 4-6 links per page, per month

Page-level authority was built directly to selected Redfin city pages instead of concentrating all link equity at the domain or category level.

Scale to enterprise volume

As the program matured, LSEO was building approximately 130 links per month across roughly 50 city pages, while continuously refreshing the opportunity set.

Consulting beyond links

LSEO also provided SEO consulting and training to Redfin's internal SEO and content organization, helping the external link-building program work alongside a sophisticated in-house team.

Support through expansion

The partnership continued as Redfin launched in Canada in 2019, expanding its brokerage and search experience beyond the United States.

04 / Historical Campaign Results

The program was built around repeatable page-one movement, not one-off wins.

LSEO's original case study reported a 46.18% increase in traffic during the engagement and described target-keyword success as nearly universal. Performance benchmarks were typically reached within 90-120 days before the campaign rotated to the next target set.

46.18%Traffic increase reported in LSEO's original Redfin case study

Historical evidence note: These metrics come from LSEO's existing Redfin case study and campaign reporting. The raw 2018-2023 analytics exports are not part of this rebuilt case study package, so we do not add new historical percentages beyond the results LSEO previously documented.

05 / Current Commercial Ranking Snapshot

The city-page pattern remains visible today.

A September 14, 2026 Semrush sample of 64 representative U.S. city-level home-sale queries shows how strongly Redfin city pages currently rank for the same type of non-branded commercial searches the LSEO program targeted.

06 / Why the Strategy Worked

Enterprise link building worked because the strategy was selective.

At Redfin's scale, more links everywhere would have been a blunt instrument. LSEO concentrated resources where ranking data already showed relevance, commercial value and a realistic path to page one.

01Relevance was already established.

Positions 11-30 signaled that Google already understood the page. Link building was used to strengthen authority rather than create relevance from scratch.

02Authority went to the money page.

The program focused page-level equity directly on city pages tied to consumer demand, rather than measuring success only through domain-wide link totals.

03The system was repeatable.

Once a benchmark was reached, LSEO rotated to the next opportunity. That made the strategy scalable across dozens of markets without losing commercial focus.

07 / Engagement Timeline

Five years of enterprise search support through major company milestones.

The link-building relationship began in 2018 and continued through 2023. During that period Redfin expanded into Canada and continued scaling its national real estate search footprint.

Rocket Companies completed its acquisition of Redfin in July 2025, after LSEO's engagement had ended. The acquisition is included here as company context, not as an LSEO outcome.

08 / Search + AI Context Today

Redfin's current visibility shows the scale of the authority ecosystem around the brand.

A June 2026 Semrush domain snapshot estimates Redfin at 11.1 million monthly organic visits, 5.6 million organic keywords and an Authority Score of 81. Semrush also reports an AI Visibility score of 68 with approximately 188,000 AI mentions.

We do not attribute Redfin's current AI visibility or current domain-wide performance to the historical LSEO link-building campaign.

09 / What Enterprise Marketers Can Learn

Three lessons from the Redfin engagement.

01Page two is often an opportunity list.

For large sites, keywords already ranking 11-30 can reveal where incremental authority may generate faster commercial gains than creating net-new pages.

02Domain authority does not eliminate page-level needs.

Even highly authoritative enterprise domains can have strategically important pages that need external authority directed specifically to them.

03Scale needs a prioritization system.

A repeatable way to select, build, measure and rotate targets makes enterprise link acquisition more accountable than simply pursuing a monthly backlink quota.

10 / Measurement & Data Integrity

Historical results and current context are intentionally separated.

This case study combines historical LSEO campaign reporting with a current Semrush keyword sample. Because those data sources represent different periods, the page labels them separately rather than blending them into a single before/after claim.

Historical campaign performanceThe 46.18% traffic increase, 4-6 links per page per month, approximately 130 monthly links, approximately 50 city pages and 90-120 day benchmark cycles come from LSEO's existing Redfin case study and campaign documentation.
