How LSEO Took Nelson Home Group From Branded Discovery to Page-One Search and 340K+ AI Mentions
Nelson Home Group already had the reputation: more than 1,200 five-star Google reviews and deep local credibility. LSEO's job was to make that authority discoverable when buyers searched by question, neighborhood, community and AI recommendation — not only when they already knew the Nelson name.

A high-authority local brand that needed to become discoverable beyond its own name.
Led by Joe Nelson, Nelson Home Group serves the Kansas City metro and entered the engagement with substantial offline and brand authority. 01 / The Challenge
Strong reputation. Weak discovery.
Nelson Home Group already had what many real estate teams spend years trying to build: more than 1,200 five-star Google reviews, established local expertise and recognizable earned authority. The problem was that much of that strength appeared only after a buyer already knew the brand.
In February 2026, the site recorded 151 organic clicks at an average U.S. Google position of 15.8. Branded searches carried most of the visibility. Buyers researching neighborhoods, school districts, relocation questions, family-friendly communities or which Kansas City real estate team to call often encountered somebody else first.
02 / The Strategy
Build the content buyers need, connect it to conversion pages, and make the whole system easy for Google and AI engines to understand.
LSEO owned the discovery layer across content, technical SEO, AI search visibility and off-site authority. The operating model connected local informational content with commercial community pages instead of treating SEO and GEO as separate programs.
Featured Communities
Build location-focused pages that carry the market and listing data buyers need and serve as the conversion hub for each community.
Living In Guides
Create locally informed editorial guides around the questions buyers ask about neighborhoods, relocation, schools, lifestyle and where to live.
Technical Foundation
Lock in crawlability, page quality and site performance. The program reported a 100/100 SEO score and passing Core Web Vitals in Google's testing.
Authority Signals
Use the team's review strength, earned press, internal relationships between guides and community pages, and off-site authority to reinforce trust.
03 / Organic Search Results
The search footprint shifted from branded visibility to hundreds of non-branded page-one queries.
By summer 2026, Nelson Home Group was no longer relying on its own name to be discovered. Google Search Console showed broad non-branded reach, stronger average positions and high-ranking discovery queries tied to how real buyers research a market.
#1 for “best cities to raise a family in the us”
One of the clearest examples of the strategy moving beyond local brand searches: Nelson Home Group reached the top position nationally for a broad discovery query aligned with how relocating families research where to live.

05 / SEO + GEO Convergence
The same content system improved Google discovery and AI citation visibility.
This is the core of the Nelson Home Group story. Featured Communities pages provide structured commercial depth. Living In guides answer the questions buyers ask before they are ready to contact an agent. The two layers reinforce each other through internal linking, local expertise and authority.
785 non-branded page-one queries
The site expanded beyond brand demand into the discovery searches that introduce new buyers to the team.
340,847 tracked mentions
The same authority and content footprint became reference material across seven major AI engines.
26,580 monthly active users
Visibility translated into a significantly larger audience rather than remaining an abstract ranking metric.

06 / The Payoff
Asked who to call, ChatGPT named Nelson Home Group first.
In a live 2026 recommendation result captured during the engagement, ChatGPT placed Nelson Home Group first and described the team as the strongest overall, buyer-focused option, highlighting its reach across both the Missouri and Kansas sides of the metro and its structured buyer process.
The business value was not simply being mentioned. According to client feedback shared with LSEO on August 20, 2026, the AI recommendation was already contributing to new client acquisition.
This case study treats the captured recommendation and client feedback as evidence of conversion from AI discovery; it does not claim that every AI mention becomes a lead.
07 / Why It Worked
The program built discoverability around real local expertise instead of manufacturing generic SEO content.
Local topics became a connected system.
Featured Communities pages and Living In guides were designed to work together, giving search engines and AI systems both commercial context and useful editorial depth.
Authority already existed — LSEO made it legible.
Reviews, local experience, earned press, technical quality and off-site authority supported the claims made throughout the content rather than leaving them isolated on a brand page.
Search and AI were measured as one discovery problem.
The team tracked rankings, non-branded queries, traffic, AI mentions, AI referrals and recommendation outcomes instead of optimizing one channel in isolation.
Strong brands still need non-branded discovery.
A buyer cannot choose a brand they never encounter. Reputation compounds only when it becomes visible for the questions and categories new customers use.
AI citations become more valuable when content depth expands.
The Living In pillar grew from 11 to 59 guides while monthly pillar citations climbed from 247 to 992 — evidence that coverage and citation opportunity can scale together.
The recommendation is the real prize.
The ultimate objective is not a citation count. It is earning the recommendation when a buyer asks an AI system who they should trust — and then turning that recommendation into a client conversation.
08 / Measurement & Data Integrity
Every headline result is tied to a named source and measurement period.
The supplied Nelson Home Group case study distinguishes Google Search Console actuals, Google Analytics 4 actuals and LSEO AI measurements. This page preserves those boundaries and does not model or project missing performance.
